Our Autumn newsletter announces the exciting new arrival of the Newcastle Birthing Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary which provides women with 24/7 support in a friendly and relaxed environment, with the added assuance that should the need arise, specialist assistance is just moments away.
And the UK's very first Institute of Transplantation is near to completion and waiting to welcome the first outpatients later this year.

Newcastle Cares - Summer 2011
The past few months have been extremely busy as ever here at the Newcastle Hospitals, where a whole array of new developments have come to fruition.

In April of this year, colleagues from the Newcastle Community Services became part of the team and we are currently looking at how we can improve the way we care for our patients, and in particular how we can do this closer to home.
Our superb new midwifery-led unit opened its doors to mothers in June giving them much greater choice about where they would like to give birth. You can see a virtual tour of these exceptional new facilities at our website – just visit the Newcastle Birthing Centre webpages and you will see why we are so tremendously proud of our new arrival!
We are just weeks away now from unveiling our pièce de resistance – the country’s very first Institute of Transplantation wholly dedicated to solid organ transplant surgery.
