Athens Accounts
What is Athens?
Athens is a password management system that allows an organisation (e.g. a Trust, University or library service) to provide access to a group of resources with a single username and password. Resources available depend on subscriptions or permissions the organisation providing the Athens service has. Athens can be accessed from any PC with an Internet connection.
How do I register for a Trust Athens Password?
(You will need a valid Trust email account.) Follow the directions on line. (Trust Staff Only) Click here for the self registration form. If you register from a Trust PC your username and password should be emailed to you immediately. If you are registering from a non-NHS net computer your application will be delayed by up to 15 working days while your details are individually verified at your place of work.

I have an Athens account from the University (or another organisation.) Do I need a Trust one too?
Each organisation's Athens account provides access only to the specific resources that the organisation subscribes to. To use anything on the Trust's Athens resources list that is not already available via an existing account sign up for a Trust one.
Where can I use Trust Athens passwords?
Access Trust Athens resources are valid on the Trust Internet and Intranet websites, the National Library for Health and the Athens Homepage. Users can also log in to Athens from any PC with an Internet connection at: MyAthens
I have Self Registered for an Athens Account. Will it work at once?
Usually passwords work immediately. However at peak times there may be a delay of up to one hour before your account is operational.
