About Us

Making it happen

There is a wide range of underpinning activities and strategies in place to ensure successful delivery of our Vision, Aims and Values, for example:

  • Building on our Education and Training capabilities as a major teaching hospital helping our staff to learn and deliver leading edge clinical care
  • Implementing our major IT strategy which underpins much of what we do to ensure we work ever more effectively and intelligently
  • Phased implementation of our Estates and Facilities strategy including our Sustainability Strategy which outlines our commitment to contributing to a sustainable future 
  • Implementing our Workforce Development and Training strategy to support our staff meet the many challenges they face and identify opportunities to improve working practices
  • Apply our Nursing and Midwifery Strategy to ensure delivery of the highest quality nursing and midwifery care both in our hospitals and out in the community
  • Outward facing partnership working - we value full and open engagement with our many partners and recognise the importance of working closely together to ensure successful delivery of our vision and aims over the coming years.
  • Our Community Health Strategy for 2012-15 describes how safe and effective care can be brought closer to patients' own homes. The strategy sets out how we will develop community-based services and work with key partners to shape health, social care and wellbeing in Newcastle and beyond.

Operational Plan

Every year we produce an Operational Plan which sets out how Newcastle Hospitals plans to provide appropriate, high quality and cost-effective services for patients.

The document includes a summary of financial, operational and quality performance of the Newcastle Hospitals Trust.
