Support services such as clinical psychology, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech and language therapy and social work are also available to provide you with advice and counselling support, where and when you need it.

We offer other specialist and intensive services including CHART (Continuous, Hyper-fractionated, Accelerated Radiotherapy Treatment ) for some lung cancers and we are a leading centre for the treatment of thyroid, paediatric and rare skin cancers.

We are a leader  in clinical research in cancer therapy, including work on the breast cancer drug Herceptin and on Alimpta, the only effective drug for treating mesothelioma.

We know how stressful this time can be for you and your family, so we offer a number of complementary services for patients. These include a unique arts therapy programme called  “Room For You”, which has artists in residence at the centre. We also offer the exceptional services of a headwear designer called “Headlines”.

We work closely with Macmillan nurses and district nurses in the community, as well as local hospices such as Marie Curie and St Oswalds’, to make sure you have all the care you need when away from hospital.
