Temporary Closure of St. Luke’s Chapel, RVI

Due to next phase of building works at the RVI, St. Luke’s Chapel closed on Easter Sunday (4th April 2010) for approximately 12 to 18 months. This closure is both to protect the Chapel and to ensure the safety of those who might want to use it.

During the closure:

  • Space for quiet reflection and prayer will be provided in the Quiet Room in the Leazes Wing, (Where the request for prayers book will be kept). Referrals for the Chaplaincy Team can also be left here.
  • Sunday Morning service will continue throughout the closure period at 09:45 with the services being held in the Medicinema, level 2 New Victoria Wing. Volunteers will still come to collect patients from the wards. Chaplains will still bring Communion to the bedside for those patients unable to come off the ward.
  • The Chaplaincy Office has been re-located to Level 6 in the Leazes Wing near the entrance to wards 50/51.
  • Further information on a quiet space in the New Victoria Wing will be available soon- details to follow.

For further information or if there are any problems during this period please contact, Rev’d Nigel Goodfellow, Trust Head of Chaplaincy on ext. 21510.
