Newcastle Hospitals is one of the largest and most successful teaching hospitals in England, employing over 13,500 staff. It is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre for healthcare excellence.
We provide the second highest number of specialist services compared to any other group of hospitals in the UK. These include academically-led acute, specialist and community services serving a large and diverse population across the North East, Cumbria, the rest of the UK and beyond.
Each year, we see over 1.3 million patients on our wards, in our clinics and in the community. Last year we safely delivered over 7,000 babies.

Training and support
We are a Centre of Excellence for staff development led by a dedicated education and training team who look after the needs of all our staff. The opportunities we offer are designed to assist staff deliver and support the exceptional standards of care we deliver. These range from simulation techniques run by our leading edge SIM North East Simulation Centre, and the unique Newcastle Surgical Training Centre which trains surgeons from all over Europe, to our Healthcare Assistant Academy, and individualised training sessions, tailored to the needs of our staff.
