Essence of Care Benchmarking for Healthcare Professionals was initially launched as a means of bringing about improvements in care, by the Department of Health in 2001. It has been very actively embraced within the Trust with a structured and systematic approach being taken, and with the Matrons taking a key role in implementation.
The process is now well embedded in practice and continues to be an active aspect of the Trust's nursing agenda with a regular cycle of audit and review being part of the process. This has established standards of best practice and continues to support continuous improvement in patient care.
