As part of its commitment to developing the future health care workforce, the Trust offers the opportunities for individuals to find out more about potential careers in the NHS through its annual Work Experience Programmes.
Provision of Work Experience by the Trust is voluntary and due to the high demand for work experience, the need to meet placement requirements for a wide range of other health care students, and ensuring that patient care is prioritised, the Trust has to limit the availability of placements. The Trust has recently revised its policy and available programmes as follows:
Please Note: Applications from school children/students under 18 are managed via the Connexions Service and the Schools/College only. Direct applications to the Trust are not accepted for school children/students.
Applications only through schools careers officers.

· Four-day hospital based observational placement (Clinical and non clinical) for individuals seeking a specific career and in the process of applying to professional training.

The Trust will endeavour to facilitate work experience for 16-18 year olds, seeking to pursue a professional career in the NHS, but again subject to availability. Individuals will need to demonstrate a genuine intention to work in hospital/community based health care settings. Priority will be given to those actively applying for professional training.
A minimum of eight weeks notice is required for these requests and a placement is not guaranteed. Placements will typically be of 1-2 days duration, subject to service availability.
