Newcastle Hospitals win Top Hospitals Award for the 8th year in a row

The Trust was delighted to be named by CHKS for an eighth consecutive year as one of the Top 40 hospitals 2008 in the country when Medical Directors and  other senior healthcare managers gather at the Tate Britain in London on 22nd April 2008. In its eighth year, the Top Hospitals Programme celebrates the achievements of  organisations in the healtcare sector.  Based on the evaluation of 20 key performance indicators including clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care, the Newcastle Hospitals is extremely proud to be one of only a handful of hospital trusts to have won the award since the ceremony’s inception in the year 2000.

David Allison, Executive Director of Operations said “The CHKS 40 Top Awards are based on the evaluation of 20 indicators, developed by CHKS covering clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care. The Trust is delighted to be recognised for the 8th year running as an organisation who is performing well against a wide range of indicators in these areas.”

“The Trust was also particularly pleased to be “Highly Commended” this year for the organisation’s work in relation to data quality. This was awarded in recognition of excellence in clinical coding, which plays an essential role in improving the quality of care provided to patients. This is a reflection and welcome recognition of all the hard work that the Trust has done in this area over the past year “.
