Olympic Torch Relay Routes in Newcastle - 15 June 2012
On Friday 15th June 2012 the Olympic Torch relay will arrive in Newcastle and we anticipate that this will have an impact on several roads in the City which may result in congestion.
When the torch arrives on the roads leading to the RVI there will be temporary closure of Queen Victoria Road and Richardson Road. Parking on these roads will have been suspended from 1pm. The Police have informed us that only emergency vehicles will have access to the RVI from 5.30pm until the relay leaves Richardson Road.
Due to the road closures no vehicles will be allowed to exit the RVI Car Parks between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Therefore we are advising members of the public wherever possible to leave the car parks in advance of 5.30pm to avoid significant delay.
Anyone who needs to access the RVI urgently by road during the period between 5.30pm and 6.30pm should contact the emergency services.
Information about public transport arrangements and a list of the torch route and expected times of arrival of the torch for 15th June are given below.
All of the hospital services will be running as usual and the Police and North East Ambulance Service are working with us to minimize inconvenience during this event.
