Paediatrician's Pedal Power!

A consultant from Newcastle University has broken the pain barrier by cycling from London to Paris in aid of Arthritis Research UK.

Professor Helen Foster completed the marathon challenge, which saw her push the pedals for 200 miles over three days and raise £2,000 for the charity.

Prof Foster, who works as a consultant for the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It was an amazing event, and physically very challenging. We cycled through some really bad weather and it was quite humbling to hear the reasons that motivated the other participants to take part in the challenge.”

As well as raising thousands for charity, Prof Foster was cycling to raise awareness about Arthritis Research UK, childhood arthritis and the Great North Children’s Hospital.
