Members' Event

Our next evening presentation will take place on Thursday 12 September 5:30 – 7:30pm in the Education Centre at the Freeman Hospital, where we will be celebrating the Trust’s links with the Armed Forces.

Agenda:

5:30pm - Welcome by Professor Sir John Burn, Trust Chairman, and Professor Kath McCourt, Trust Non-Executive Director and Honorary Colonel of the 201 Field Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

(Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be available.)

 5:40pm-6:15pm - Market Place, Members are invited to browse stalls which demonstrate and celebrate the Trust’s links with the Armed Forces, including: 201 Field Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, Veterans and Reservists, Great North Air Ambulance and Gold Award.

6:15pm-6:45pm - ‘Exemplo Ducemus’ – By Example We Lead Captain (Retired) Katie Watson, former Royal Military Police and currently a Trust Chaplain. Katie will discuss how her experiences as a veteran in the Royal Military Police has helped to shape her role within Newcastle Hospitals.

6:45pm-7:15pm - ‘Lessons learnt from conflict’ – A career in the Army Reserves, Lieutenant Colonel Rachel Hawes, Consultant Anaesthetist. Rachel will describe how she successfully combines her involvement in the Army Reserves alongside her career as a Consultant in a busy Major Trauma Centre.

7:15pm - 7:30pm - Q&A and discussion
