Why are we here?
A burn injury may affect the whole family, both at the time of the injury and the years following. Burns can leave a scar both physically and emotionally, which can alter a child’s body image and remind everyone of what has happened. We are here to offer ongoing support, to help the child and their family adapt and to cope with new situations and return to their daily activities.
We are a club for children and their families in the North East and Cumbria who have experienced a burn injury, whether the accident was recent or some time ago. The club welcomes anyone who has had a burn injury.
The name was chosen by members of The Grafters Club. The young people chose well as there is not only the word association with skin grafts, a ‘grafter’ is also someone who works hard. Children and their families who have experienced a burn injury not only work hard during the healing time but also at their rehabilitation.
The Grafters Club is an independent charity – please see our funds link for further details.
For more information please see the Events link below.
Anyone who lives in the North East of England or Cumbria who has suffered from a burn injury can join The Grafters Club. Even if you are no longer receiving treatment from the hospital you are very welcome to be a part of The Grafters Club.
If you would like to join The Grafters Club please contact Alison McKenzie or Jo Mason - see our contact link for details.
