Many individuals like to make a gift to their local hospital after providing for their families and loved ones.
It is important to remember that gifts left to charities in a Will are exempt from Inheritance Tax.
You can download a possible wording for inclusion in a Will here in PDF format or if you would prefer, please ask your solicitor to contact the Charitable Funds Office on 0191 2231434 or Charity.Matters@nuth.nhs.uk
This is a convenient way to make a single or regular donation to your hospital charity, and the individual will benefit from receiving tax relief on their donation.
You can make a payment through your employer's Payroll Giving scheme by completing a 'Payroll Giving' form. With this scheme individuals can elect to have a payment (monthly/Weekly) deducted from their salary and paid directly to your hospital charity.
Please check with your employer that they offer the Payroll Giving facility.
Gifts of shares and securities can be transferred to the charity and the individual can obtain tax relief on the contribution at the date of transfer.
Please contact the Charitable Funds Office on 0191 2231434 for further details or e-mail Charity.Matters@nuth.nhs.uk
Companies obtain full Corporation Tax relief on any donations to your hospital charity.

Many large commercial organisations are willing to 'match' contributions made by their employees who are either making donations to, or fundraising on behalf of, a registered charitable body. Effectively doubling the donation.
Please check with your employer that they offer this facility.
Gift Aid will not cost you anything.
If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim the basic rate of income tax on all of your donations directly from HM Customs: Adding more than 28% to the value of your gift.
Higher Rate taxpayers can claim the difference between the two rates against your own Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax liabilities.
If you are donating by cheque or online, you will be invited to complete the necessary Gift Aid section.
You can still claim Gift Aid whilst fundraising, but it is the individual sponsors that actually make the claim. Our Official Sponsor Forms are specially designed to help you gather the relevant information.
