How do I get to the hospital?

Patient and visitor information

Car parking

We have car parking spaces available on all hospital sites for patients and visitors to use.

Find out more - including details about parking charges - in the car parking section for each hospital site:

Please Note:  We have recently made some changes to our barrier car parking on the Freeman Hospital and RVI sites.

This is causing some disruption and we would ask you to allow extra time when coming to our hospitals for clinic appointments and treatment.

Parking concessions

We offer a range of parking concessions for visitors and patients who attend our hospitals regularly.

For more details, please speak to the staff on your ward who will contact the Transport and Facilities Department on your behalf.

Disabled parking

Disabled parking is available free of charge for Blue Badge holders in designated 'disabled' spaces in our hospital car parks. However, there are restrictions on some disabled spaces. For more details, see the signage next to the disabled parking bays, or click on the links to our hospital sites at the top of this page.

If you cannot find a disabled parking space, please park in the main hospital car parks at the standard tariffs displayed.

Blue Badge holders are subject to standard charges when using the multi-storey car parks.

Blue Badge holders are not entitled to park on double yellow lines, in drop-off zones, or bays allocated for taxis or ambulances. For more information, please see the Blue Badge scheme guidance.

The Newcastle Hospitals exceeds the current guidance to provide disabled parking at all our hospital sites.

Please park responsibly

Please observe the signage around our hospital sites and particularly in our car parks. Please follow the good practice guidelines when parking at our hospitals:

  • don't park on double yellow lines or hatched areas - this applies to all vehicles including those with a Blue Badge
  • only park in a designated space
  • park in an appropriate space, eg avoid spaces allocated for other vehicles and avoid parking in drop-off/collection areas
  • do not cause an obstruction to traffic or access to a building by parking inappropriately
  • display your Blue Badge when using disabled parking on-site
  • where signs indicate it is required, when using your Blue Badge please provide your registration number to reception, by telephone (0191 223 1353) or email (

We have a ‘zero’ tolerance policy regarding abuse of staff.  Please do not verbally or physically abuse our parking staff.

We use external companies to help with car park management and enforcement. Please make sure your read the signs and guidelines at our car parks for more details about parking regulations.
