The Pain Management service extends across both the Freeman and Royal Victoria Infirmary sites.
There are Acute Pain teams comprising specialist pain nurses and consultants in anaesthesia on both sites who are trained to help minimise the pain and discomfort following surgery as much as possible.
The Chronic Pain Service is an outpatient service based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. It is run by a multidisciplinary team comprised of consultants in pain medicine, nurse specialists, physiotherapists and psychologists who are all experienced in the assessment and management of persistent pain.
