New Croft Centre (0191 229 2999)
When you first arrive at the New Croft Centre you will be asked to complete a registration form. You can download and complete the registration form in advance and bring it with you to save time (form found below). If you cannot attend our centre in Newcastle, details of our outreach clinics can be found below.
At the New Croft Centre there are a number of different ways you can access the service. These include:
| Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | |
| Appointment clinics | 9am to 4.30pm | 8am to 6.30pm | 8am to 6.30pm | 10am to 6.30pm | 9am to 4.30pm |
| Queue and wait | 9am to 3pm | 9am to 3pm | 9am to 3pm | 10am to 3pm | 9am to 3pm |
|
Young persons only session (13 to 19 year olds) 4.30pm to 7pm |
Queue and wait
Queue and wait (no appointment needed) sessions for contraception, emergency contraception, condoms and lube, pregnancy testing, STI testing and GUM services are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9am to 3pm, Thursday 10am to 3pm.
Please note that those attending the ‘queue and wait’ walk-in sessions will be seen on a 'first come - first served basis'. The numbers of people we can see will vary each day due to staff availability. If the queue and wait session is full you will be advised that you can either attend our next queue and wait session or you can attend our appointment only sessions. If you have signs or symptoms of infection, please inform a receptionist who will arrange for you to speak in privacy to one of our nurses.
Please be aware that specialist appointment clinics may be running at the same time as the queue and wait sessions. Therefore some people with pre-arranged appointments may be seen sooner than those waiting to be seen for the queue and wait sessions.
Express clinic
An express clinic runs alongside the walk-in session Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9am to 3pm, Thursday 10am to 3pm. This is for people who want a rapid STI (sexually transmitted infections) screen. At the express clinic you don’t need to ‘show your bits’ to a doctor or nurse.
If you have no symptoms of infection and no questions or concerns we would recommend using this service. The tests are just as reliable at detecting infections as those taken by a doctor and nurse.
In privacy you can take your own swabs or provide a urine sample for chlamydia and gonorrhoea and a health care assistant will take a blood sample for syphilis and HIV. Test results will be texted to you within 10 working days.
Please be aware that in the express clinic we are unable to see;
This is because further tests, immunisations and/or discussion maybe required.
Appointments
Appointments for all sexual health, contraception, STI testing, GUM and HIV services are available between the times shown on the table above.
Lunchtime appointments are also available but times vary. Please contact the New Croft Centre - 0191 229 2999 - for details.
