Our Accident & Emergency facilities are now provided at the brand new, specialist Emergency Department at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).
The new Emergency Department is run by a highly skilled team, with emergency care consultants, nursing and support staff providing important specialist care to patients in an emergency.
There is also a new specialist Emergency Unit dedicated for children, with members of the medical and nursing team fully qualified in paediatric life support and specialist needs.
With a convenient new location at the RVI offering immediate support from a wide range of specialists, all under one roof and without the need for hospital transfers, the new Emergency Department provides first class care, just when you need it most.

You’ll be able to reach the new Emergency Department via Richardson Road, as the specialist unit will be located just along from the Leazes Wing entrance. You’ll also find parking for emergency requirements only.
For information, advice, and treatment of minor injuries or ailments, the following walk-in services are available without appointment:
Westgate Walk-in Centre at the former Newcastle General Hospital site.
