Children's Emergency Department

The Children's Emergency Department is a purpose built area for children requiring emergency care.

It is part of the main Emergency Department for specialist trauma care and advice, and is adjacent to the Great North Children's Hospital to ensure rapid seamless access to paediatric specialists and paediatric in-patient beds and facilities.

The department has specially trained medical staff, advanced paediatric nurse practitioners and paediatric staff nurses all trained in paediatric emergency care.

We expect to see over 18,000 patients per year aged 0 to 16.
