Patient quote

"I recently had cause to visit your Walk in Centre when my eldest daughter cut her hand quite badly whilst at home drying a glass.  The level of service provided by your staff from reception through to treatment was so refreshingly good I felt I ought to let them know."  Mr PV

Walk in Centre

Contact: (0191) 256 3163 - Walk in Centre Reception

The Walk-in-Centre at the NGH is a nurse-led unit for patients with minor injuries and illnesses and is staffed by specially trained nurse practitioners, staff nurses and healthcare assistants.  No doctors work on this unit, but they are close by, if required, as the Accident & Emergency Department is next door.

You do not need an appointment at the Walk-in-Centre-just turn up and wait your turn to be treated. Your GP can also refer you here for treatment if appropriate.

Our staff have access to many services within the hospital and community, including: A&E,  x-ray, medical specialties, outpatient clinics, social work teams and GP surgeries.  This means that you will receive the best possible treatment and advice efficiently and effectively from the most appropriate health care professional.
