The unit is open to visiting hours until 8pm in the evening although we would ask that you avoid mealtimes, ie. 9-9:30am, 12noon-1:00pm, 5:00-6:00pm

Cragside Ward

Cragside is a rehabilitation ward. It is staffed by a team of professionals catering for the needs of older people recovering from an illness or coping with a disability.

As a team we will work with you to increase your independence so that you can get the most you can out of life.

The team consists of: nurses, support workers, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, podiatrists, speech and language therapists, dieticians and social workers.

The treatment and care you receive at Cragside may include:

  • Help with mobility
  • Practicing everyday tasks
  • Using activities to overcome the effects of illness or disability
  • Involving friends and relatives whenever possible
  • Solving medical concerns where possible
  • Issue’s concerning communication, diet, nutrition and swallowing difficulties
  • Access to social work advice and support.

When you come to Cragside you will need your own day clothes and comfortable footwear. We will assist you and your family with discussing and planning a safe discharge.

Visiting times and further information

Visiting times on Cragside is ‘open visiting’ until 8pm. Later visiting may be arranged with a nurse if needed.
