Ward 14 Freeman Hospital

Ward 14 is an Acute Stroke Unit based at Freeman Hospital and cares for adult patients who are known or suspected to have suffered a stroke.

Our aim is here is to ensure that all patients referred here are assessed by a nurse specialist or doctor within 24 hours from the onset of a suspected stroke.

Patients will have a CT scan and undergo various other medical investigations as soon as possible following admission.

Ward 14 is based at the Freeman Hospital.  To find us:

  • Come through the Main Entrance and follow the main corridor, passing the shop and hairdressers until you reach the end. 
  • Turn left and take the lift or stairs to level 6 and follow the sign for Ward 14.
     

How to get to the hospital

Staff you are likely to meet

All patients are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team who are specialised to the needs of stroke. You will meet nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dieticians. All aspects of treatments and care are overseen by the stroke consultant.

Things you need to know

  • Visiting hours are from 11.00am to 1.00 pm and 4.00 to 7.30pm.
  • There is a rest period between 1.00 pm and 4.00pm - please do not visit during these hours.
  • Children under the age of 12 years are not allowed to visit the ward.
  • Please do not bring fresh flowers onto the ward. This is to help with infection control.
