Ward 41 is an Acute Stroke Unit based at the RVI and cares for adult patients who are known or suspected to have suffered a stroke.
Our aim is here is to ensure that all patients referred here are assessed by a nurse specialist or doctor within 24 hours from the onset of a suspected stroke.
Patients will have a CT scan and undergo various other medical investigations as soon as possible following admission.
All patients are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team who are specialised to the needs of stroke. You will meet nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dieticians. All aspects of treatments and care are overseen by the stroke consultant.
