Charities who support us
Many people want to support our Children’s Services and the Great North Children’s Hospital through charitable donations and fundraising activities.
Providing that 'little bit extra'
Funds raised allow us to provide that ‘little bit extra’ for our very special young patients. Funds can be raised from all kinds of activities, including:
- sponsored runs
- charity auctions
- golf days
- coffee mornings
- gala evenings
- and countless other events and donations.
The generosity of our supporters and fundraisers has helped us to keep pace with continual developments in medical equipment and treatment techniques. It also helps to provide a more welcoming and comfortable environment for children, teenagers, their families and carers, reducing stress and helping the recovery process.
For example, through charitable giving, the Great North Children’s Hospital has been able to buy:
- toys and games for our young patients
- provide stimulating, colourful furnishings
- interactive floor and wall projection systems that create fantasy landscapes with 3D images to entertain and distract children (and their parents) during treatment, or before they go into the operating theatre.
There are a number of charitable funds supporting our Children’s Services and administered by our two official hospital charities - the Newcastle Healthcare Charity and the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charity.
