Felt compelled to put in writing how impressed and thankful my family are in respect to the level of care our daughter received as an in-patient on Ward 6 at the RVI. She was admitted via the Accident and Emergency Department on 26th December after her health declined and I was extremely worried about her breathing. She was promptly assessed at the NGH where all staff who dealt with us were fantastic even though the Paediatric area was full of poorly children and babies.
After being referred to x-ray and again being seen very quickly we found out that she had pneumonia and needed to be admitted for treatment very quickly. A bed was quickly found at the RVI and we were transferred over by ambulance within an hour. (Ambulance staff were lovely).
On arrival at Ward 6 we were looked after well with a bed ready and our named nurse ensuring I was alright and answering any questions I had.
The nurses on duty that night were very compassionate and helped me through a LONG night looking after me and Sophie with such kindness and sensitivity.
As Training and Development Officer in this Trust I feel privileged to work in an organisation that has such a dedicated and caring staff and felt I had to put this in writing to let you know. Please pass on my comments to all staff concerned.
Many thanks again.
Dear Mr Fenwick
I would like you to be aware of the fantastic staff that you have on ward 4 at the RVI. I have stayed on ward 4 with my son for 6 days and the treatment that I received was brilliant. The staff have continued to help at every opportunity and they are a credit to the health service.

On 8th March 2007, our little girl was admitted to Ward 2 at the RVI as a day patient for minor surgery. Thankfully she did not need the surgery. However, we feel that if she ever has to go into the RVI again she need not be afraid or worried, she was well looked after and we were too. Our short visit was a very positive experience. The care was excellent and comforting from all concerned.

Dear Dr Flood
I recently attended your paediatric allergy clinic with my son and wanted to write to you to say how thoroughly impressed I was with all aspects of his care. I found all of the staff very friendly and helpful and the clinic was very well organised. I felt that your advice was clear and appreciated that you took the time to explain the causes of allergic reactions and answered all of my questions. We were seen very promptly by yourself and Lucia and the facilities for keeping the children occupied were very good. The morning of the clinic gave us a confirmation of Jack's allergy, provided me with reassuring advice and the ability to deal with any further reaction in the future." Mrs CC
