Children and Young People Clinic

Contact: (0191) 2336161 Ext: 24753 - Dr Karen Rollison, Consultant Paediatrician (Clinical Lead)

Our Children & Young People’s Clinic cares for children and young people from across northern England who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, or who have a range of medical genital conditions. We also provide sexual health care to a range of vulnerable groups.

Children and young people can be referred to our care by their GP or a doctor from another hospital which may not have the necessary expertise.

Specialist counselling and support when you need it

Our experienced team is led by consultant paediatricians with specialist training in child protection and forensic practice, along with highly skilled doctors with particular expertise in child protection. They’re supported by a network of other specialist staff, such as forensic children’s nurses, who also deliver our sexual health clinics. In addition, a paediatric social worker provides therapy and counselling where appropriate.

Family-focussed approach

The clinic, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, is a welcoming, comfortable, family-focussed centre. We’ve taken great care to ensure that it operates to the highest standards of personal care and forensic practice. Our leading edge facilities include two forensic examination suites equipped with the latest digital colposcopy equipment, plus dedicated therapy facilities.
