Contact 0191 256 3450 - Jocelyn Thompson, Community Matron

Our Children's Community Nursing Service provide specialist children's services to children and young people up to the age of 19 years.

Our constant aim is to help you and your child to lead a fulfilling everyday life. We strive to keep hospital admissions to a minimum by providing modern nursing care and support for your child and family in your own home.

This may include direct nursing care, technical assistance with devices, clinical advice around oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care and home ventilation.  It may start with helping you plan and co-ordinate your care arrangements when your child is being discharged from hospital.

Expert support and advice when and where you need it

We provide practical advice and support to children and young people as well as to their families and carers to ensure your child can continue to enjoy their everyday lives. Where appropriate we provide professional support and training to educational staff to help your child continue to attend nursery or school.

We work in partnership with Hadrian and Sir Charles Parsons special schools in Newcastle to provide primary and specialist nursing care to their pupils, and we support children with health needs in other educational settings including mainstream, specialist and ARC provisions.
