Our Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service provides expert guidance and support for children with speech, language or other communication problems. We are committed to helping your child communicate to the best of their ability and to minimise any negative impact on their families, as well as on their education and social lives.
Our primary focus is on children up to the age of 18 who live or go to school in Newcastle, but we do also treat children from outside the city if they have more serious problems, often linked with other medical needs. The range of problems we cover includes:
Our team of highly trained speech and language therapists and dedicated support staff will ensure that your child receives the best possible healthcare and treatment, tailored to their individual requirements. We aim to provide advanced, child-centred, integrated support. We’ll assess your child’s needs and work closely with you, your child and other specialists to develop an individual care plan which links seamlessly into your child’s everyday activities, enabling them to continue their normal lives as much as possible.
And we aim to make treatment as accessible as possible, seeing children in their own home, school or nursery, as well as at the RVI and in specialist clinics across Newcastle. In addition, our open referral system means that anyone, including you as parents, can refer your child to be seen by one of our expert team. If your child is referred by someone else, though, you will always be asked to give your consent.
