Major children's centre

As one of only 14 major children’s medical centres in the UK, we provide the full range of health services for children in Newcastle and beyond.

Children from around the North East and North Cumbria come to us, and we also treat patients referred to us from across the country and the wider world.

We offer medical student electives to students from around the UK and overseas to provide experience in the wide range of services we provide.

We provide students who have a special medical interest with supervisors so they can get the most from their time with us.

Facilities

Our modern facilities and enviable place in centre of Newcastle, helps make the GNCH a very attractive place to work.

Based at the purpose-built Great North Children’s Hospital in the city’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, our facilities are designed to cater specifically for children and young people from birth to over 18 years old.

Research

Many of our staff at the GNCH have the chance to get involved in a wide range of research programmes.

Working in close partnership with Newcastle University, our consultants and nurses are regularly involved in trials and research projects which translate into real benefits for patients and children across the world.
