Children's Services are working hard to ensure that its services are Young People friendly and to spread good practice across the Trust, where young people access our health services.
“You’re Welcome” is a National Quality Accreditation Scheme from the Department of Health, awarded to show that services have been assessed as Young People friendly and of a high standard.
In December 2010 the Children and Young People’s Forensic Service were the first of our Children’s Services to be accredited – we are one of only 3 of the 16 Foundation Trusts in the country to achieve this national award.
Young people helped with the assessment for the award and we hope will also be involved in helping us shape our services for the future. Young people have already been working with staff on a range of projects including: development of new information, new menus, the decoration of a department and the creation of prompt cards, stating how they would like staff to treat young people.
We have lots of exciting developments planned! These pages will keep you informed of what is happening. More information will arrive soon, explaining what we deliver and how young people can get involved.
Whether you have been a patient or a visitor to The Great North Childrens Hospital at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, or even if you have not visited us but live in the North East of England, and would like to help shape the future, get in touch today by e-mailing us on youngpeople@nuth.nhs.uk.
