Dental Emergency Clinic
The Dental Emergency Clinic provides an open access emergency service without the need for an appointment if you suddenly require dental care and do not have your own dentist.
This service is designed to treat adults who have urgent dental issues such as pain. If you have had an injury, are in pain, have facial swelling or bleeding, then this service is appropriate for you. This clinic does not provide specialist opinions however we will endeavour to relieve dental pain and symptoms you are experiencing.
The emergency clinic is based at the Dental Hospital and is open Monday to Friday (apart from Bank Holidays) from 9.00am each morning. The main reception opens at 8.30am to receive patients. We strongly advise you to attend as early as possible as we can only see a limited number of patients on a 'first come, first seen' basis. We also suggest you contact the hospital first before setting off to check availability on 0191 2824664.
Please be advised we are currently running a very limited service and may only be able to see very urgent cases.
Treatment on our department is provided only to the extent that is necessary to prevent significant deterioration in oral health or address the cause of severe pain.
Treatment may include temporary dressings or extractions. Permanent fillings are not available on this department.
A full dental heath check will not be completed to address all oral health issues and so it is essential that you register with a general dental practitioner for ongoing maintenance check ups and care.
