Departments - the what, where and who
Dermatology Outpatients
Our outpatient department is housed in New Victoria Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI). We run many services and clinics from there for both adults and children.
We also run a number of outpatient clinics at venues throughout the region from as far as Berwick in the North, to Hexham in the West. Details of these can also be found by clicking the link for more information.

Ward 5
Ward 5 is based in the New Victoria Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), and provides care for a range of specialised Dermatological conditions.

Dermatology Surgical Unit
If you need to have surgery following your consultation with the doctor it will take place in our purpose-built theatre unit which is based in our Outpatients department. Click below to learn more about the department, and to find out a bit more about the types of staff that work there.
Phototherapy Day Treatment Unit
The Phototherapy Day Treatment Unit caters for our patients undergoing a range of day treatments including phototherapy, blood monitoring and topical medications. It can be found within Dermatology Outpatients in New Victoria Wing. Click below to learn more about the area including some of the staff you might see there.
How to find the new Dermatology department
Directions to the ward from the New Victoria WingShow [+] Hide [-]
- Enter the main entrance and keep to the left hand side there you will see the lift opposite main reception desk or the escalators.
- Enter the lift or escalators to level 02 upon exiting turn right and just after the stairs turn left and follow the corridor until arriving at your destination on your right hand side.
Directions to the ward from Leazes WingShow [+] Hide [-]
- Enter Leazes Wing main entrance, walk past the reception desk and turn right when you reach the café.
- Walk down this corridor until you reach a large glazed atrium; enter the lift or stairs on your left hand side of the atrium. Select level 02 and exit lift or stair and turn left follow the corridor until arriving at your destination on your left hand side.

- Enter the hospital from the multi-storey car park and take your immediate left follow the corridor and just before the stairs take a right and follow the corridor until arriving at your destination on your right hand side.
