Phototherapy Day Treatment Area

The Phototherapy Day Treatment Area provides specialist treatment and advice for patients with a range of skin disorders including psoriasis and eczema. Treatments carried out include:

  • Phototherapy (specialist light based therapy using ultra violet (UV) radiation from artificial light sources, including narrow band, broad band, UVB, and PUVA)
  • Blood monitoring for systemic (ie: medicine in tablet form) therapies
  • Topical treatments (ie: skin cream based )
  • Monitoring of Methotrexate (specialist medication used to treat different types of rheumatic disease, including rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis)

The Treatment Area is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

You can find maps and directions for how to get to the Phototherapy Treatment Area in the Dermatology Department.

Things you need to know

  • Depending on your prescribed treatment you may need to attend the clinic  two - three times a week, or even daily.
  • Men should bring appropriate underwear allowing complete protection of the genital area from the ultra violet light.
  • A nurse will discuss your treatment and any associated side effects with you, as this is a nurse led clinic.
