Dermatology Staff

Clerical staff

Clerical Staff

Our clerical staff are there to help you with many things including booking in and out of clinics, booking or changing appointments, ensuring that your medical notes are up to date and there for your appointment, and ensuring that we have all the correct details for you. They usually wear a dark coloured blouse (as in the photograph) or a white shirt. They will normally be the first member of our staff that you encounter when you visit the department.

Specialist Nurse

Specialist Nurse

We have Specialist Nurses within the department who focus their skills upon particular key areas such as Skin Cancer, and Paediatrics. They support the clinical services and are able to provide additional information, support and care. You will be able to recognise them from their royal blue nurses uniform.

Surgical Unit Staff (Theatres)

You will recognise the staff that work in our Surgical Unit as they wear slightly different uniforms - they wear what are known as "scrubs" as you can see in the picture. These staff ensure that your visit for surgery runs as smoothly as possible, that you are safe at all times and that you are comfortable.

Phil

Doctors

We have a skilled and qualified team of medical staff from Consultants, to Registrars, to junior doctors undertaking training. The Consultant that you are registered with is ultimately responsible for your care and will ensure that you receive the best and most appropriate treatment possible.

HCA

Healthcare Assistant

If you see a beige uniform such as the one in the photograph this will be a Healthcare Assistant (or HCA). The HCAs support the medical and nursing staff and have an important role in ensuring that our clinics, ward and theatres run smoothly. Male Healthcare Assistants wear a slightly different uniform of white shirt with beige epaulettes.

Staff Nurse

Our qualified staff nurses wear light blue uniforms. The nurses within Dermatology support the medical staff in providing care and treatment for our patients. They may administer tests, give you treatments, or take samples from you as examples of some of the work they do. Within the department our nurses also run many different types of clinic themselves and are trained specially to do this. Male Staff Nurses wear a slighly different uniform of white shirt with light blue epaulettes.

Sister

Sister

We have Sisters in charge of Ward 5, Outpatients, Phototherapy, and our Surgical Unit. You will be able to recognise them from their navy blue uniform as seen in the picture. As a patient or visitor should you have any queries or concerns they will be happy to assist you.

Other staff

We also work in close conjunction with staff from other disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Medical Photography.
