To all the staff of Ward 19, nurses, doctors and cleaners. Thank you all for your care and kindness and friendly attitude during my enforced ‘holiday’ with you. I certainly won’t worry should I need to be re-admitted as I know that there be many friendly and familiar faces to greet me.
I recently had occasion to have a lesion removed from my leg in the department of Dermatology. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr Langtry and all the staff for the efficiency and speed with which my treatment was carried out.
I experienced courtesy and a sense of humour both during surgery and in outpatients department from all those with whom I came into contact. I would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to all concerned.
I would also like to say that, in spite of newspaper headlines, I did not experience any age discrimination even though I am a talkative “ancient Briton” (79 years this year)!
In addition I would like to express appreciation to being addressed by my full name and not by my first name. I am of the era that “familiarity breeds contempt”. I prefer to address the staff according to their status and this generates respect on both sides i.e. staff and patients. After all, I would not dream of calling Mr Langtry by his first name!
My appreciation and thanks to you all.
Mrs MT
