Measurement Of Steroid Required In An Adult Or Child

1. Fingertip length index = ½ g
2. Fingertips length = 1 g

Adult Daily use of a steroid until clear

1. Face and neck = 1½ g
2. Trunk (front and back) = 7 g
3. Arm = 1½ g
4. Hand = ½ g
5. Leg = 3 g
6. Foot = 1 g

Child (4 years). 

Depending on severity, children may need twice daily dressings to start with

1. Face and neck = ½ g
2. Trunk (front and back) = 2 g
3. Arm = ½ g
4. Hands and feet = 1 g
5. Leg = 1 g

To apply the cream or ointment, apply the measured amount of steroid in a downward motion following the direction of the hair growth.
