Children's Clinic

We know that coming into hospital can often be upsetting for children and their parents. To help make your child’s experience as stress free as possible, we have a special clinic just for children in our dermatology outpatient department.
The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm so that children requiring frequent treatment (eg cream based treatments) can even be seen before or after school. Our nursing staff are also skilled in teaching children, as well as their parents or carers, how to apply their own treatment and change dressings themselves.
Staff you are likely to meet
The clinic is led by Sisters Jenny Underhill and Marylyn McPherson supported by specialist paediatric nursing staff with two Paediatric Dermatology Consultants, Dr Taylor and Dr Leech, holding clinics on Monday and Friday mornings.
Things you need to know
- There is a WRVS refreshment bar available in main out patients during most clinic times.
- There is a play area next to the waiting room, with toys, games & books for our young patients. Please note that the play area is not supervised, although our staff are close at hand at all times should any problems arise.
- Baby changing facilities are available beside the play area.
