Mr Vinidh Paleri

Position: Appointed Consultant Otolaryngologist Freeman Hospital 2005. Mr. Paleri trained in Otolaryngology in India and the United Kingdom, and completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology in Australia.

Qualifications: MS FRCS (ORL-HNS)

Special interest: Mr Paleri has a general Otolaryngology practice with a subspecialty interest in Head and Neck Surgery. He has authored more than 25 publications and pursues head and neck cancer based research work.

Mr Wolfgang Issing

Position:  Appointed Consultant Otolaryngologist Freeman Hospital 2002. Undergraduate training University of Wuerzburg, Germany.  Post Graduate training University of Munich, Germany.  Previously Consultant Otolaryngologist University of Munich, Germany.

Special interests: Areas of special interest are septorhinoplasty, pinnaplasty and otology.

Mr John Hill

Position: Undergraduate training at St Thomas’s Hospital, London.  Majority of post-graduate training Newcastle upon Tyne.  Previously visiting lecturer Chinese University of Hong Kong. Appointed Consultant Otolaryngologist, Freeman Hospital 1995

Qualifications: FRCS, FRCSEd, FCSHKU

Special interest: Otology, skull base and pituitary surgery.

Professor Janet A Wilson

Positions: Trained in Edinburgh; Consultant ENT Surgeon Glasgow Royal Infirmary 1992-95; Appointment to the Chair of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery in 1995; Leads the Laryngopharyngeal Research Group; Assistant Secretary ENT-UK (www.entuk.org ; President of the North of England Surgical Society ; President Elect Laryngology and Rhinology Section Royal Society of Medicine 2008-09.

Qualifications: MD, FRCSEd (1983); FRCSEng (1984)

Clinical interests:  Throat – benign voice disorders, gender reassignment surgery, swallowing disorders, snoring, globus sensation.  Nose – catarrh, sinus surgery and septorhinoplasty.

Mr Frank W Stafford, Consultant ENT Surgeon

Position: Consultant Otolaryngologist/Head & Neck Surgeon since 1989.  Trained in North East England and USA.

Qualifications: FRCS

Special interests:  In adult & paediatric head & neck surgery, particularly children’s airway disorders, thyroid surgery and head & neck cancer resection and reconstruction.  Also, general ENT, sinus disease and chronic ear disease referrals.

Mr Ian J M Johnson, Consultant ENT Surgeon

Position: Consultant Otolaryngologist, Freeman Hospital since 1998.

Full general adult and paediatric ENT service.  Cochlear implant surgeon with the North East Cochlear Implant Service.  Director of Northern Ear Implant Centre, Bone Anchored Hearing Aid Programme and middle ear implants. 

Qualifications: BSc MD FRCS FRCS(ORL)

Special interests:  Hearing restoration, balance disorders and skull base surgery.
