Northern Ear Implant Centre

Contact: (0191) 223 1043 - Mr Tom Davison, Senior Chief Audiologist

BAHA LogoAt the Northern Ear Implant Centre, we help to restore people’s hearing.

We use our expertise and the very latest technology to aid patients with difficult hearing problems, providing advanced audiological assessments and specialist care and we’re one of the few units in the country to offer middle ear implant surgery.

Our Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) programme is the largest in the UK and we are the only provider in the North East.  We are also the only NHS hospital currently offering Retro-X implant surgery, a break-through technique which uses an unobtrusive titanium hearing aid fixed in the middle ear.

Active research programmes to continually improve patient care

We’re continually working to develop our knowledge and improve our service to patients. A key part of this is the active research programme we pursue. We work closely with postgraduate doctors from the University of Newcastle to develop and put into practice new audiology technologies and practices.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and talk to one of our staff. They’d be pleased to help. In addition, you can talk to other patients and obtain advice and guidance both before and after your treatment at our monthly patient support group.
