Ward 10 is an adult ENT ward which provides care for people requiring surgery covering a broad range of treatments involving minor procedures to the tonsils, sinuses, upper airways and inner ears.
Specialist care is also provided for more major surgery involving the pituitary gland and reconstruction following cancer surgery.
How to find us
Ward 10 is based at Freeman Hospital. To find us:
- Come through the Main Entrance and follow the main corridor, passing the shop and hairdressers until you reach the end.
- Turn left and take the lift or stairs to level 5 and follow the sign for Ward 10.
Staff you are likely to meet
Ward 10 is led by Sister Robinson and the clinical team includes ENT surgeons, nursing staff, audiologists (hearing specialists), speech and language therapists, and other support staff.
Things you need to know
- Call at the Admissions Desk in the main entrance of the hospital with your admission letter.
- Please bring all medicines and any inhalers you are taking with you.
- If you are being admitted between 8.00am and 12 noon and you are having surgery the same day, please do not eat before coming into hospital. If your admission time is 2.00 pm then no fasting is necessary as surgery will be the following day. Please contact the ward to find out more about correct fasting times.
- If you are undergoing a surgical procedure which only requires a short period of stay on the ward, you may be suitable for nurse-led discharge.
- Nurse led discharge is carried out the morning after surgery at approximately 7.00am. Breakfast will be available in the day room before discharge. Please arrange your early transport home.
