In 2007/2008, 171 babies were born as a result of IVF treatment at the unit in 2007 (21.7% live birth rate per cycle started). A more detailed analysis of treatments started in 2007 is given below. If you have any difficulties in interpreting these results do not hesitate to ask a member of staff.

Please remember that these are average results. Your chances of success will depend on your individual circumstances and may therefore be different from these figures.

Clinical pregnancies are reported in the table given below. In the under 38-age group 85.4% of clinical pregnancies resulted in a live birth.

Some women do not grow enough eggs so 58 (8.5%) did not have an embryo transfer.

Couples are encouraged to have only 2 embryos transferred because of the high risk of complications of multiple pregnancy.  In 2007, 99.8% of couples at this unit had 1 or 2 embryos transferred.  Despite this, 18.2% of the clinical pregnancies were multiple.
