Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit

Our Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit is led by specially trained nurses, who look after women experiencing difficulties during the early weeks of pregnancy. This can include ladies who have experienced pain and /or bleeding during a previous pregnancy or miscarriage.

All patients referred to our service by their GP will be seen with 48 hours in our Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic.  Clinics are held Monday to Friday, located next to Ward 40 at the RVI.

The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit is situated next to Ward 40 on level four of Leazes Wing at the RVI.  To find us:

  • Come through the Outpatient Entrance of Leazes Wing.
  • Walk past the outpatient reception desk and take either the lifts or stairs up to Level 4.
  • Ward 40 is clearly signposted from the lifts and is a short walk past the main waiting area.

Staff you are likely to meet

This is a Nurse-led assessment clinic led by Angela Barnes, Matron with specialist nurses and the nursing team.  Other staff you might meet include health care assistants.
