Ward 40 RVI

The staff on Ward 40 care for women with a range of gynaecological conditions. In addition to the 22 inpatient beds on the ward, there are a further seven beds in the Day Unit, also situated on Ward 40.
Women may be referred directly to Ward 40 at any time by their GP or via our A&E department or Minor Injuries Unit to our specialist Gynaecological Emergency Admission Unit, also located on Ward 40.

Ward 40 is situated on level two of Leazes Wing at the RVI. To find us:
- Come through the Outpatient Entrance of Leazes Wing.
- Walk past the outpatient reception desk and take either the lifts or stairs up to Level 2.
- Ward 40 is clearly signposted from the lifts and is a short walk past the main waiting area.
Staff you are likely to meet
Ward 40 is led by Angela Barnes, Matron and the clinical team here includes doctors, specialist nurses and the nursing team. Other staff you might meet include health care assistants and physiotherapists.
Things you need to know
- Visiting is between 2 and 4pm and 6 to 8pm (except on the day of surgery when visiting is 7-8pm only as patients are likely to be unwell.
