Gynaecology

Women's Health Unit

The Women's Health Unit (WHU) is an outpatient unit dealing with the health needs of women.

Our main aim is to provide the most up-to-date care for a range of gynaecological problems, and to deliver a high quality service and individual care to women.

We provide excellent clinical services in a modern purpose-built environment. We have disabled access and toilet facilities, and a parent and child room is nearby to the unit.

Staff you are likely to meet

Depending on the treatment you need, there are a range of professionals you could meet at the unit. This includes consultants, doctors and nurse specialists.

The unit also has three Nurse Practitioners for the pregnancy loss service who run clinics in the unit, as well as a dedicated team of Staff Nurses, Health Care Assistants and reception staff.

You can find out more about the team working in Gynaecology Services on our Meet the Team page.

Opening hours

The unit is open from 8.30am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

There are a number of clinics held each day. Morning clinics usually start at 9.00am until 12 noon. Afternoon clinics usually run from 2.00pm until 5.00pm, but can be flexible.

We are part of a large teaching hospital and we regularly have medical students, student nurses and student midwives attending our clinics. We will ask your permission for the students to be present during your consultation and examination.
