Patient thankyou letter for Ward 8

I feel compelled to put pen to paper in order to express my sincere gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and Support Staff of ward 8 and the ICU of the RVI in Newcastle.

My father was taken into ward 8 in September 2007 after being diagnosed with a Lymphoma type cancer, from the time of his admittance he was treated with the ultimate professionalism and tender loving care, the staff were ever on hand to assure my father’s welfare and answer any amount of questions that my family and I needed to ask. I was totally impressed with the patience and high technical ability possessed by the ward and ICU and at all times was made to feel confident that everything was being done to make my father feel at ease.

My father unfortunately was unable to get through his personal battle, however my family and I were totally comforted by the fact that he was in the very best of hands until his final moments. Taking in an experience such as this is very difficult to deal with as an individual and collectively as a close family unit, but we were always able to rely on the staff to keep us updated and give us the assurance that my father suffered the minimum amount of pain and indignity.

During the day of my father’s funeral we managed to collect a number of donations from family and friends, from a discussion with the staff of ward 8 we decided to purchase a small flat screen TV, which we intend to donate to the ward as a mark of our gratitude for the excellent care my father and our family received.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Patient thankyou letter for Wards 8 and 48

I have recently been suffering from cancer, I have attended the RVI for treatments as a day patient on Ward 6, with three “resident” stays, due to complications, on wards 8 and 48. What positive experiences these were!! The doctors showed concern and true professionalism. The nurses attended to the medical and social needs of those in their care in a quietly efficient way. The floors, the bed and the toilets were kept immaculate by the teams of diligent cheery cleaners. The porters walked many miles, chatting to worried patients and jollying them along with true Geordie banter. And the food!! It was always hot (if it should be) and was certainly edible.

At a time when the NHS is frequently being criticised, it is great to find that its ideals are being upheld at the RVI.

Patient thankyou letter to Haematology department

Dear Mr Bradshaw (Minister of Health, House of Commons)

I am extremely grateful and most appreciative of the wonderful medical treatment I have received over the past six years as an outpatient currently attending the haematology department at the Freeman Hospital, High Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Hospital.

I trust that as Health Minister my heartfelt experiences concerning my medical treatment, of which I inform your goodself, will afford you some encouragement, satisfaction and pleasure.

Finally, I must name three doctors who run the above said haematology department who are Professor S Proctor, Dr P Kesteven and Dr J Wallace and their friendly nursing staff, for your information and kind attention.

My best wishes

Mr AN

Patient thankyou letter for Ward 6 RVI

I, together with my husband, would like to express our great appreciation for the care of the doctors and nurses especially on Ward 6 at the RVI but also all the staff involved in my recent treatment for Lymphoma.

The chemotherapy on Ward 6 at the RVI, the radiotherapy at the General, as well as the scans and investigations at the breast and kidney clinics at the RVI and Freeman were all conducted with impressive care, sympathy, cheerfulness and professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy they were. Your staff made a potentially fraught and frightening experience very positive and optimistic.

We feel you can be justifiable proud of your staff and of the NHS. I think of them with so much gratitude and I know many friends and relations have similar reasons for praise and admiration.

Thank you all so much.

Patient thankyou letter for Ward 6b

I wrote to you on 14th December last year, praising the staff and standards of the Haematology Department of Newcastle Royal Victoria Hospital. This letter was acknowledged by you on 19th December 2005, your ref. LRF/SB/AW/289.

I would now like to advise you that my treatment has been successful; I now attend the above department only for check ups. Fortunately, subsequent to my original letter I have only required treatment as an outpatient at Ward 6b. However, I wish to reiterate that on all of my numerous visits to this Ward, I have noticed the consistent high standards of patient care, hygiene, and the overall professional competence of all the staff led by Professor S Proctor, Matron Carol Richardson, and Sister Brenda Aniokowski.

I very much appreciate the care and attention which I have received from these three individuals, together with their medical and nursing teams.
