Contact: (0191) 282 4772 or 282 0664 - Matron Richardson or Nurse in Charge
Wards 6a and 6b are collectively known as the Haemato/Oncology Day Unit which houses the North East’s Bone Marrow Transplant and Haemophilia Centres.
The Haemato/Oncology Day Unit is an outpatient and day care facility providing comprehensive care for patients and families with malignant (cancerous) and non-malignant (non-cancerous) blood disorders.
We carry out a range of investigations to help with diagnosis and treatment options and will also see you here if you have been newly diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis or other blood related disorders requiring anti-coagulation treatment.
We run a small number of clinics on the unit such as the Bone Marrow Failure Clinic, Myeloma Clinic and Lymphoma Clinic.
Our staff work together as a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for all of our patients which means we can ensure we meet all of your needs, clinically, socially and emotionally.
The Haemato/Oncology Day Unit is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
