Ward 22 RVI

Ward 22 is a specialist ward for adults diagnosed with diabetes or endocrine related complications.

Patients can be referred here from the Emergency Admissions Unit and other areas of the Newcastle Hospitals.


How to find us

Directions to the ward from the Multi Storey Car ParkShow [+] Hide [-]

Ward 22 can be found on level two of the Claremont Wing. To find us:

  • Come through Claremont Wing main entrance.
  • Take the lifts or stairs up to level two and Ward 22 is well signed.

How to get to the hospital

Directions to the ward from Leazes WingShow [+] Hide [-]

If you have come through the Leazes Wing Main Entrance from Richardson Road then follow these directions to find us:

  • Come through the Leazes Wing Main Entrance, walk past the reception desk and take a turn to your right when you reach the Café.
  • Walk down this corridor until you reach a junction. The East Block Wing lifts and a staircase are available in front of you and you should take these down to the Ground Floor.
  • Look for the sign directing you to take a right turn for Claremont Wing and follow the long corridor until you see the sign for Ward 22.
  • Ward 22 is on the second floor of Claremont Wing so take the stairs or lift up to the next floor and follow the sign for Ward 22. Ask at Leazes Wing reception desk for more information.

Directions to the ward from Peacock HallShow [+] Hide [-]

If you have come through Victoria Wing Peacock Hall Entrance from Queen Victoria Road then follow these directions to find us:

  • Come through the Victoria Wing Peacock Hall Entrance and walk down the main corridor passing the League of Friends shop on your right hand side following the signs for Claremont Wing.
  • You will take a right turn at the bottom of this corridor, carry on until you reach Leazes Wing. Continue to follow the signs for Claremont Wing until you see the sign for Wards 22.
  • Ward 22 is on the second floor of Claremont Wing so take the stairs or lift up to the next floor and follow the sign for Ward 22.
  • Please note that it is a long distance to walk from Peacock Hall to Claremont Wing and volunteers from the WRVS provide a free shuttle service if you require assistance. Ask at Peacock Hall reception desk for more information.

Staff you are likely to meet

Ward 22 is led by Sister Horsburgh and the clinical team includes doctors specialising in endocrine and diabetes related conditions, specialist diabetic nurses, nursing and other support staff.  You may also meet physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers.
