Ward 48 is an acute medical ward for adults specialising in gastroenterology and provides care for people with bowel and liver related disease as well as many other medical conditions. We also care for toxicology patients on this ward.

Ward 48 is located on the fourth floor in Leazes Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. To find us:
- Come through the Main Entrance at Leazes Wing, turn right and follow the corridor until you reach the lifts.
- Take the lift to the fourth floor, turn left and follow the signs for Ward 48.
Staff you are likely to meet
The team on Ward 48 is made up of doctors, nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists, palliative care nurses and other support staff.
Things you need to know
- The patients' rest period is between 1pm- 2pm
- Please do not bring fresh flowers onto the ward. This is to help with infection control.
