After the birth of your baby

After the birth of your baby it's likely that you will have many questions. This section of the website will help provide you with more information.

Feeding your baby

We believe that breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby and we recognise the important benefits for you and your child.

Deciding how to feed your baby is a very personal decision. You need to be happy that you have made the right choice and you do not need to make a firm decision while you are pregnant.

You can find out a lot more information on our feeding your baby web pages.

You can also find out about Vitamin K for your baby.

Birth Reflections Service

After the birth you may feel that it would it help to meet with a midwife from the Birth Reflections Team and talk through your experience. We are here to listen to you and to any concerns you may have or to go over what happened during your labour and birth if you feel unsure why things went as they did. Your partner or anyone who you wish to bring along is of course also welcome to be with you. There is no time limit to the session although it is a one-off appointment. Sometimes after the session you may wish for us to refer you for additional support which we can advise upon or signpost you to. If you wish to access our support please call:

  • tel: 0191 282 0212. Please leave a message on the answer phone so that we can return your call.

Please note we can sadly only provide this service if you were cared for in Newcastle as we get many requests for the service.
