Four week course of parent education

This course is for women and their partners who live outside the Newcastle Midwives area and are booked at the RVI. For women with a Newcastle Community Midwife, please book in your local area for similar sessions.

The four weekly sessions are held on Thursday evenings and will explain:

• how to recognise early labour
• normal labour and birth - how most babies are born
• what can happen if doctors get involved in your care and how labour complications may arise and are managed (during these last two weeks, methods of pain relief will be discussed)
• postnatal issues - how to care for your baby and how you might be feeling after the birth

You will also be taken for a tour around the Maternity Unit.
